Frequently Asked Questions

Don't worry, we get asked a lot of questions regularly, hopefully below can help:

1. Where are you located?
Longcraig Scout Centre is located in South Queensferry, just to the east of the Forth Rail Bridge.

By bus, you can get a 43 from Edinburgh city centre, or a 71 from the Gyle. The 43's nearest stop is Dalmeny Train Station (a mere 10 minute walk downhill to LSC), or the 71 from the bottom of the Loan, roughly a 15 minute walk along the shore.
By Train, you can get off at Dalmeny Station also, and take the 10 minute walk down the hill.
Most people arrive by Car, if you're heading from Edinburgh, take the A90, past Millar and Carter, taking the second sliproad labelled "South Queensferry". Follow this road all the way. You should get to a downhill section of road, with speed bumps, at this point, look to your right and look for the small road under the rail bridge taking you back on yourself, take this road to the end.
2. Who provides the BBQ food?
If you book the BBQ's with your booking at LSC, then we are providing the BBQ itself, and the gas to run it. YOU need to provide the food for yourself and the youth.
3. Do you provide waterproofs?
Most of the activities we provide will have some sort of aspect of getting wet. We have a very small selection of waterproofs, but not enough for everyone.
4. How early should I be for the session?
The Duty Manager will be at the centre approx. 30 minutes before any session is set to take place. We expect arrivals to happen 10-15 minutes before the session starts.
5. What is the refund policy?
If you cancel a booking outwith 21 days of the booking, you will recieve a full refund for any money already paid.
The only other scenario where a full refund will be made is if LSC cancels your booking. Ususally due to adverse weather.
Partial refunds will be discussed on a case by case basis, inline with our T&C's, and final say will lie with the LSC Management Team, outlined on the about page.
6. How much notice will we get for a cancellation due to adverse weather?
If you're unfortunate enough to have your booking cancelled due to adverse weather, we try to do this based off the forecast 24-48 hours before your booking.
If the forecast isn't cooperating, it may be a much shorter notice.

If you're nervous about your booking, or have any further questions, please email jane.balchin@sesscouts.org.uk
